Becoming an author changed my life…
Message from: Ed Rivis, Amazon 5 star rated author of The Ultimate Web Marketing Strategy, E-Mail Marketing Dynamite and Massive Traffic
Dear Business Owner & Soon to-be-Author,
It may sound cliched, but it’s true… becoming an author really did change my life.
Back in 2004 I was “just another web designer”. I was perceived by my prospects as a ‘jack of all’ rather than a ‘master of’ the services I offered. And I was paid accordingly!
Not only that, but I had to submit quotes and tenders to try and win new web design contracts, and more often than not we lost the bid when my quote was undercut by other local companies willing to sell their services for peanuts, (and who didn’t realise they were literally pricing themselves bankrupt, but that’s another story.)
Attracting and winning new clients was difficult, and to be honest, bloody frustrating.
In fact it was all the more frustrating because since 1996 I’d spent more than £50,000 on seminars, workshops, and private-study programmes to improve my ability to design web sites that converted up to 98 in every 100 visitors into enquirers.
And yet for all that, still hardly anyone knew about what I could do, let alone pay good money for it.
Thankfully that all changed the day my first book launched.
- I was instantly recognised as an industry expert, which meant that…
- I no longer had to go to prospective clients ‘cap in hand’, trying to get work off them. Instead…
- People started coming to me, in droves, asking if I’d “accept them” as a client!
Best of all, clients no longer expected me to quote for web design, or tender for marketing consultancy contracts, because they were no longer comparing me to other companies in my area.
In fact they couldn’t – because none of the other companies were run by published authors.
Becoming an author literally changed my world overnight, and it could do the same for you too.
However, with such compelling reasons and benefits to becoming an author, it begs the question… why aren’t YOU an author yet?
Again, I’m not psychic, but I can probably guess some of the reasons you’ve not finished (or perhaps not even started) writing your book yet…
How many of the following apply to you?
- You don’t have time and are too busy running your business.
- You don’t have anyone to give you decent feedback and advice.
- You’re worried it won’t be good enough.
- You’ve lost the motivation to finish it off.
- You’re stuck and not sure what to write about.
- You don’t know how to design and layout the book.
- You don’t know where to get the book printed.
- You don’t know how many books to get printed.
- You don’t know how to get an ISBN number.
- You don’t t know where to get the book cover designed.
- You don’t know what to price the book.
- You don’t know how to sell the book in volume.
If you have any of these common challenges or frustrations, don’t worry.

Like I say, my first book changed my world. But it still took me more than three years to complete! I’m really proud of my first book, and it’s done wonders for me both personally and professionally, but with what I now know, I made things hard for myself.
I spent less than 40 hours working on my second book, over a period of a few months.
And my third book took less than one week from initial concept to it going off to the printers!
So how did I go from taking three years on my first book to less than one week on my third?
The answer is actually quite simple…
I GOT HELP!
My first book would never have seen the light of day if I hadn’t taken the plunge, and got the help of a ‘book coach’… someone who spoke with me on a weekly basis and made sure my book was progressing at all times.
Also, when I finished writing the book the same ‘book coach’ arranged for it to be published, which involved all the things you’ll need to do to get your book to print too, including…
- Copy-editing — which means improving the formatting, style and accuracy of the ‘raw manuscript’.
- Proofreading — checking your book’s spelling and grammar.
- Typesetting — which means graphically designing the individual pages of the book before it goes off to the printers.
- Organising an ISBN number — every ‘proper’ book needs a barcode on the back.
- Designing a professional book cover — essential for you to be taken seriously.
- Writing the front and back cover text — good ‘blurb’ will increase sales.
- Writing the Title Verso page — which is a legal requirement so you don’t want to get that wrong!
- Getting your book printed — including getting quotes and haggling for the best deal.
- Getting your book listed on Amazon — and other key book retail websites.
- And the dozens of other small, medium and large tasks that are involved in becoming an author, and which most business owners will never get around to organising themselves. (Which is probably why most never manage to become authors.)
And the fact is, I wouldn’t be an author today if I hadn’t got someone else involved and doing all that for me. I’d never have found the time, let alone stayed motivated to see it all through.
I suspect the same applies to you too?
Whether you’re still writing your book (or haven’t started yet), or whether your book is finished and sat on your hard drive gathering ‘digital dust’ because you don’t know what to do next… we can help.
We can help you become an author, probably faster than you ever thought possible.
